I recently subscribed to Globe Wireless Broadband here in Baguio City. Although I wanted a regular DSL line, none of the wired ISPs in the city had services in our area. I had to go wireless. I chose Globe because their best competitor Smart with their Smart BRO service has a very bad reputation in our city.
To apply for the Globe Broadband service you must prepare these requirements:
1. Proof of Identification - Photocopy of Government Issued/Company ID Cards
2. Proof of Billing Address - Utility Bills, Credit Cards or Bank Statements
3. Proof of Financial Capacity - Tax Returns, Certificate of Compensation, Payslips
My application was immediately processed and they came to install the service in 5 days. Pretty fast considering most landline telephone services take a month to get installed. 3 technicians came to install the service and they brought with them a ZTE MF600 HSDPA modem and a Kenbontong TDJ-0825BKM1-Y external antenna. Although they had problems with my operating system, (I use Ubuntu Linux) they had the service up and running in about half an hour.
The quality of the service is satisfactory, it delivers the advertised speed regularly reaching 520kb/s download and 120kb/s upload. The only problems I have encountered so far is the sluggish Globe DNS servers. I also found that unlike smart bro, (which my neighbors have) globe broadband has not been affected by the bad weather we have been having lately.
It's not the best connection out there, but for Php995, it doesn't disappoint.

The First Blog Post
After a 4 days of thinking, I finally decided to start a blog. (Actually what i wanted to start was a technology website but unfortunately I don't have enough money to fund the hosting charges.) So, what should I write about now?
I have no idea.
Hopefully, this would be the start of something useful for, well, everyone.
